Who is imbue?
Under the cover of dark, when cities sleep, Imbue, armed with posters, paste, stickers and screws is smearing his subversive messages on your streets and walls. And his message is crystal clear: he stands for freedom of expression with a DIY approach Imbue is taking direct action at a time when the thoughts and exploits of the public are becoming increasingly monitored and controlled.
On every street corner society is faced with the increasingly authoritarian nature of modern life. Issues like corporate exploitations and media manipulations have become so common-place they go unseen. Imbue faces these concerns head on and works with paint, textiles, markers and prints to highlight the hypocrisies of today's society. But blink and you may miss him- Imbues messages are rarely obvious. His sneaky manipulations of advertising, logos and everyday imagery force onlookers to pay attention to their surroundings and learn to take a closer look.
Never sticking to one medium, Imbue always aims to use the most fitting art form for each message, be it sculpture, screen-prints, painting or film and his work has been sold world-wide from New York to Hawaii, and is heavily collected in Japan.
London-born artist Imbue has always created. From a young age he was cutting, sticking and painting and after years experimenting with a range of styles and techniques, using whatever materials he could lay his hands on, Imbue has finally crafted his own unique style. Now that he lives and works in the lively arts hub of Brighton, his highly sought-after artwork hangs in a range of top contemporary spaces, alongside some of the UKs top artists.
And he shows no sign of slowing down. With abundant projects in the pipeline and increasing demand for his creations Imbue continues his work as a new breed of artist, drawing inspirations from street art, graffiti, graphic design and advertising, and adding the Imbue twist that makes each piece unique.
